Using the reference
Happy Clarinet provides a free reference for standard Boehm-system B♭ soprano clarinet. The current fingering chart covers written E3 through C6 and presents basic fingering information, written/concert pitch relationships, synthetic reference tones and a browser-printable full-range chart. You can use the public V1 pages without creating an account or paying a fee.
Use the written note in your clarinet part as the lookup key. The chart’s concert-pitch label is supplementary information for a transposing instrument, and the Hear note control plays a synthetic pitch reference rather than a clarinet recording. The site is not a tuner and does not listen to or grade your playing.
The reference is provided as informational and educational material, not as an individualized lesson, repair diagnosis, medical/ergonomic assessment or guarantee that a particular fingering will be ideal for every instrument and passage. If a diagram conflicts with instruction from a qualified teacher or with the mechanism on your instrument, check the instrument system and the evidence before assuming one source must apply universally. Suspected factual errors can be reported through Contact.
Printable permissions
Happy Clarinet currently provides a browser print layout so you can produce the full 33-note chart on US Letter or A4 paper or save the browser output as a PDF. The presence of a Print / Save PDF button means the site intentionally supports making a copy for the user’s own reference. It does not, by itself, define every broader reuse right that might apply to distributing, modifying, republishing or selling the resulting material.
A final public licence for classroom distribution, adaptation, republication and commercial reuse has not yet been confirmed by the site owner. Until that policy is stated explicitly, do not treat the print feature as permission to remove Happy Clarinet branding, upload the complete chart to another website, sell copies, include the chart in a commercial product or publish a modified version under another name.
If you want to use the printable outside ordinary personal reference, contact Happy Clarinet and describe the proposed use: who will receive it, whether money is charged for the material itself, whether the chart will be modified and where it will be distributed. A specific written answer is safer than assuming that “free to use on the website” means unrestricted redistribution.
Ownership and third-party materials
Happy Clarinet renders its own schematic fingering diagrams from structured project data and writes its own explanatory text. The Methodology page identifies external references used to cross-check the underlying basic fingering facts. A citation to Yamaha, the Woodwind Fingering Guide or another source does not mean Happy Clarinet owns that source’s text, illustrations, trademarks or publications.
Nothing in these terms gives permission to copy a third party’s fingering-chart artwork, remove its copyright or attribution notices, or republish material governed by that third party’s own terms. Happy Clarinet’s original presentation and code can coexist with factual information that was checked against external references; the rights in those different layers should not be conflated.
The project does not currently publish a blanket Creative Commons or open-source content licence for the public chart. Source-code licensing, if stated in the repository, is also separate from permission to reuse website copy, brand assets or third-party referenced material. If a future licence is adopted, the Terms and printable area should name it explicitly and define which materials it actually covers.
Educational limitations
A basic fingering chart answers a narrower question than a teacher. It can show which holes and keys are used for the released reference, but it cannot hear air support, embouchure, voicing, articulation, intonation tendencies, hand position or the mechanical condition of your instrument. The synthetic reference tone is useful for pitch orientation; it is not a model of clarinet tone quality.
Different passages can make alternate fingerings useful for movement, trills, resonance or intonation. The V1 chart deliberately excludes most context-dependent alternatives rather than presenting a large unreviewed list. Six notes in the released range show two co-equal basic little-finger choices because both are part of the standard basic reference. That does not mean every listed option will feel equally convenient in every musical context.
Happy Clarinet also limits its instrument scope. A chart for B♭ soprano clarinet should not be assumed to cover bass clarinet, German/Oehler systems, extended-key instruments or the full altissimo range. If you are unsure what instrument or system you have, confirm it with a teacher, band director, technician or manufacturer before treating a diagram as instrument-specific instruction.
Corrections and changes
The Methodology page explains how the current SOURCE_CROSS_CHECKED basic dataset is assembled and how a proposed correction is investigated. Content can change when a data error, rendering problem, accessibility issue or print defect is confirmed. The chart version and written note help identify what a report refers to, so include them when possible.
Happy Clarinet does not promise a fixed update schedule, uninterrupted availability or a particular response time to email. Cloud hosting, browsers and local print systems can fail or change. If the site is unavailable, that does not create a promise that a replacement service or offline copy will be supplied. If a print or audio feature fails while the rest of the reference remains usable, report the concrete failure so it can be reproduced.
These terms may be updated when the product changes—for example, if Happy Clarinet adds accounts, paid services, downloadable licensed materials or a broader classroom permission. Changes should describe real new behavior rather than adding generic clauses for features the site does not offer. The page date indicates a substantive terms/content update, not a guarantee that every legal question has been reviewed for every jurisdiction.

Use hello@yangweiwei.dev, also listed on the Contact page, for correction reports and questions about using Happy Clarinet material. For a permission request, explain what you want to copy, the format, the audience, whether it will be modified, whether the material itself will be sold and where it will be distributed. That information makes it possible to answer the actual reuse question instead of guessing from a broad label such as “educational.”
The website itself does not include a purchase flow, paid membership, refund system, arbitration portal or rights-clearance form. These terms therefore do not invent purchase, subscription or refund conditions for services that V1 does not provide. If those services are added later, their actual commercial terms would need to be written and reviewed then.
A public personal/legal operator identity is not stated in the current brand content. This page should not be read as creating a separate legal entity named Happy Clarinet. Questions that require a legal counterparty or jurisdiction-specific contractual statement remain part of the final launch/legal review rather than being filled with a made-up company name or personal pseudonym.
